AI eBay Search Builder
Describe what you're looking for in plain English. SearchDome's AI suggests the right keywords and exclude terms — so your automated eBay search finds exactly what you want, not everything around it.
What Is the AI Search Builder?
Getting the right keywords for an eBay search takes more thought than it looks. Too broad and your results are full of noise — accessories, incomplete items, or completely different products that happen to share a word. Too specific and you miss listings that sellers describe differently.
SearchDome's AI Search Builder solves this. It's built into the Create eBay Search page. You describe what you want in plain English — the way you'd explain it to someone — and the AI translates that into:
- ✓ Optimized search keywords — the terms most likely to match what you actually want on eBay
- ✓ Suggested exclude terms — words to filter out accessories, parts, bundles, or other listings you don't want cluttering your results
The AI is powered by Claude (Anthropic), one of the leading AI models available today. It understands context — if you say "I'm looking for a vintage Rolex watch, not parts or broken ones," it knows to suggest excluding terms like "parts only," "for parts," "cracked," and similar variants.
How It Works
Describe what you want
On the Create eBay Search page, scroll to the AI Search Builder panel. Type a description in plain English — include the item, brand, model, condition, and anything you want to avoid. For example: "A Sony A7 III mirrorless camera body, not a bundle or kit, and not broken or for parts."
Review the AI-generated keywords
In seconds, the AI returns suggested keywords and a list of terms to exclude. Review them — they're a starting point, and you can adjust anything before applying them to your search.
Apply and save your search
Click Apply and the keywords are copied into the search form. Set your frequency, price range, and other filters, then save. SearchDome runs the search automatically and emails you when new matching listings appear on eBay.
Why Better Keywords Make a Bigger Difference Than You'd Think
Too Broad: Noise Drowns Out the Signal
Search for "Gibson Les Paul" and you'll also pull up guitar cases, straps, pickups, knobs, tuners, books about Les Paul, and listings where sellers mention a Les Paul in the description of a completely different guitar. Without exclude terms, an automated search becomes a flood of irrelevant emails.
Sellers Use Inconsistent Descriptions
"For parts," "as-is," "for parts or not working," "non-functional," "broken," "cracked screen" — sellers use dozens of variations to describe items they're selling for parts. The AI knows these patterns and can suggest exclude terms that cover them, without you having to think of each one manually.
Cleaner Results Mean Less Time Filtering
The goal of an automated search is to save you time. If every email contains 40 listings and 35 of them are irrelevant, you're still doing the work. The AI Search Builder helps you get the keywords right upfront — so your search emails contain listings you actually want to look at.

AI Search Builder — Questions & Answers
What AI model powers the Search Builder?
The AI Search Builder uses Claude, made by Anthropic. Claude is one of the leading AI language models and is well-suited for understanding natural-language descriptions and translating them into structured search terms.
Do I have to use the AI-generated keywords exactly as suggested?
No. The suggestions are a starting point. After the AI generates keywords and exclude terms, you can edit, add, or remove anything before applying them to your search. Think of it as a smart first draft — you're always in control of the final search.
Does the AI Search Builder actually run an eBay search?
No. The AI Search Builder only generates keyword suggestions — it doesn't run an eBay search itself. Once you apply the suggestions to your search form and save the search, SearchDome runs it on your chosen schedule and emails you the results.
Can non-members see the AI Search Builder?
The AI Search Builder is visible on the Create eBay Search page to all visitors, so you can see how it works before joining. Using it to generate keywords requires a free SearchDome account.
Is there a limit on how many times I can use it?
Yes. To ensure fair access for everyone, usage is limited per account per day. For most users building or refining a set of automated searches, the limit is more than sufficient.
